Elevated Guideway Construction in Richmond and Sea Island

Description: The elevated guideway will require the construction of foundations, columns and the elevated guideway itself. The guideway will be constructed with pre-cast concrete segments that will be lifted into place with a moveable crane and then assembled in the guideway structure.

Location: The Canada Line will be elevated along Cambie Street, south of 64th Avenue, and in Richmond along No. 3 Road, the Bridgeport area to Saba Road, as well as from Bridgeport to the Vancouver Airport. The elevated guideway through Richmond will run from Cook Street along the east side of No. 3 Road, through the Bridgeport area and under the Oak Street Bridge to the North Arm or the Fraser River. In Vancouver, the line will run from the Fraser River and the foot of Cambie Street over Marine Drive to 64th Avenue.

Impact: The elevated guideway construction will be completed relatively quickly so the duration of local noise disruption will be minimal in any one area. However, impacts will include reduced traffic lanes, some noise and dust, reduced parking, increased truck traffic and several months of active construction in any one area along No.3 Road.
