L.I. (Larry) Bell

Larry Bell is Chair of BC Hydro. Mr. Bell served as Chair and Chief Executive Officer of BC Hydro from August 2001 to September 2003, and as Chair of BC Hydro from 1987 to 1991. During this time he was named Communicator of the Year by the International Association of Business Communicators, received the Vanier Medal from the Institute of Public Administration of Canada, and was given the Award of Excellence for Innovative Management by the Institute of Public Administration.
Mr. Bell has been Chair and President of the Westar Group and Chief Executive Officer of Vancouver City Savings Credit Union. In the province's public sector he served as Deputy Minister of Finance; Secretary to the Treasury Board; Deputy Minister of Lands, Parks and Housing; and Deputy Minister responsible for Transit.
In the volunteer sector Mr. Bell chaired the Lower Mainland United Way and the Vancouver Board of Trade. He has just completed service as the Chair of the University of British Columbia's Board of Governors. He is currently Vice-Chair of Shato Holdings and a Director of several companies including International Forest Products, Miramar Mining Corporation and Wheaton River Minerals. Mr. Bell holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of British Columbia and a Master of Arts from San Jose State College in California.

Larry Berg

Larry Berg joined the Vancouver Airport Authority at its inception in 1992 and was Senior Vice President Operations prior to his appointment as President and Chief Executive Officer in 1998.
The Vancouver Airport Authority is responsible for the management, operation and development of Vancouver Airport (YVR), Canada's second busiest airport. Since the Airport Authority's inception in 1992, approximately $1 billion has been invested in capital projects to improve and expand the airport, contributing to YVR being chosen by passengers as the number one airport in North America in 2002.
Mr. Berg holds a Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Alberta and a Master of Science degree in Business from the University of Oregon. He commenced his business career in human resource management within the mining industry and was Vice President, Administration for a major Canadian energy company prior to joining the Authority.
Mr. Berg is a director of the Vancouver Airport Authority and a director of its subsidiary company, YVR Airport Services, which operates 14 airports within Canada and internationally. He is Chair of the Canadian Airports Council, past Chair of the Greater Vancouver Gateway Council and a director of the Airports Council International. Mr. Berg is a member of the Advisory Board to the Faculty of Commerce at the University of British Columbia, a Vice-Chair of the British Columbia Business Council, a member of the Advisory Council to the Vancouver Canucks, and a director of the VGH/UBC Hospital Foundation. He received an Honorary Doctorate from the British Columbia Institute of Technology in 2003.

Fred J. Cummings , P.Eng.,

Fred was recently named Vice President, Major Construction Projects after serving as Project Director for the Golden Ears Bridge since May 2002. Prior to that he served as Manager, Engineering and Project Services with TransLink and its predecessor BC Transit for five years where he was responsible for managing the implementation of TransLink's capital program.
Before joining TransLink and BC Transit, Fred was a transportation-engineering consultant assisting both private and public sector clients in the planning, design and construction of large-scale capital projects. He is a Professional Engineer and a graduate of the University of Waterloo with a BASc in Civil Engineering.
The Major Construction Projects division was created recognizing that a significant portion of TransLink's $4 billion investment in the Greater Vancouver region is being made through major projects. As Vice President, Fred remains directly responsible for all aspects of the Golden Ears Bridge, but will also lead the implementation of the Evergreen LRT Line.

Dan Doyle

Dan Doyle joined VANOC as its executive vice president, construction in May 2006 with responsibility for the $580 million development and building of the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Games venues.
Large complex building projects are second nature to Doyle. With more than 35 years of experience with BC’s Ministry of Transportation, most recently as deputy minister, he has overseen some of the province’s landmark construction initiatives. Highlights include the rehabilitation of Vancouver’s Lions Gate Bridge and the development of the Sea-to-Sky Highway Improvement project. Doyle also served as chairman for Rapid Transit 2000, the company responsible for building the Millennium Line extension to Vancouver’s rapid transit system.
A civil engineer by training, Doyle’s lengthy career has been recognized with many accolades, including the Canadian Transportation Person of the Year (2005) and the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Institute of Transportation Engineers. In addition, he was awarded the Lieutenant Governor’s Silver Medal for Excellence in Public Administration (2002).
Born in Quebec City, Doyle was raised “in or near almost every community in BC.” He graduated from the University of British Columbia with a bachelor of applied science (civil engineering) and received his professional engineer designation in 1971. He subsequently pursued additional executive studies at Queen’s University and UBC.
Now a self-professed armchair athlete and fan, Doyle previously enjoyed a long run as a coach for his children’s soccer teams. Whenever possible, he devotes time to woodworking and ranks the pool table he built years ago among the favourite furniture he has crafted. Travel is also a passion: Doyle, his two sons and his daughter are planning a trip to the Cape of South America and Antarctica. |

Eva Matsuzaki

Since 1984, Eva Matsuzaki has been a principal of Matsuzaki Architects Inc., formerly Matsuzaki Wright Architects Inc. From 1985 to 1999, she served as an Adjunct Professor in the School of Architecture at the University of British Columbia. From 1974 to 1984, she served as an associate with Arthur Erickson and Associates.
During her career, Ms. Matsuzuki was principal-in-charge of such projects as Mount Pleasant Family Centre; Institute of Asian Research-C.K. Choi Building, U.B.C., Vancouver, B.C.; Pacific AIDS Resource Center, Vancouver, B.C.; Saint Paul's Hospital-Master Plan Update, Vancouver, B.C. with RPG Programmers; Mount Pleasant Neighbourhood House/Child Care Facility, Vancouver, B.C.; Alexandra Housing Society, Vancouver, B.C.; and contributor to City of Santa Monica Sustainable Design Guidelines, Santa Monica, CA-with Sheltair Scientific Group.
Matsuzaki Architects Inc. is at the leading edge of environmentally sensitive design and the creation of healthy work environments.
Ms. Matsuzaki has served on numerous boards, committees and councils including: President of both the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada and the Canadian Architectural Certification Board; Vancouver Library; Canada Council of Visual Arts; and the Architectural Institute of B.C. At present, she serves on Women in Architecture (founding member) and Lambda Alpha, Land Economics Society. In addition, Ms. Matsuzaki has served on Vancouver's Urban Design Panel and Architectural Design juries of the Precast Concrete Institute, Canada Council Grants, and the Architectural Institute of B.C

Daniel L. Nocente,

Mr. Nocente is Vice-Chairman, National Bank Financial Group. Prior to joining National Bank Financial, Daniel was Vice-Chairman and B.C. Geographic Head for RBC Dominion Securities Inc. Daniel has worked at various times in Montreal, Toronto, Vancouver and New York. He has a B.A. from the University of British Columbia and an MBA from George Washington University in Washington, D.C. Daniel is active in the Vancouver community. He is the past Chairman of the St. Paul's Hospital Foundation Board and is currently a Director of the following organizations; Vice Chairman and Director, Providence Health Care; Director, Arts Club Theatre Company; Director, Nature Trust of British Columbia. In addition he sits on the Dean of Arts Advisory Board at the University of British Columbia.

Mr. Paget has more than 45 years of experience in the supervision, engineering, planning and management of construction and mining projects. He is the president of Paget Engineering Consultants Ltd. which was formed in 1970 to provide consultant services for: site investigations, construction estimates, planning and scheduling, cost control, construction methods and designs, project coordination, supervision and inspection services, preparation and resolution of claims,mediation, alternative dispute resolution and arbitration, equipment evaluation, operational assistance and project management.
Mr. Paget has a Bachelor of Applied Science Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of British Columbia and is a member of the Association of Professional Engineers of British Columbia, the Engineering Institute of Canada and the Canadian Dam Safety Association.

David G. Unruh

David Unruh is a Director of TransLink. He is also a Director of Westcoast Energy Inc. and Union Gas Limited, both Duke Energy companies.
Mr. Unruh joined Westcoast Energy Inc. as Senior Vice President, Law and Corporate Secretary in 1993 and continued in that role until March 14, 2002. From March 15, 2002 until his retirement on April 1, 2003, he was Senior Vice President and General Counsel for Duke Energy Gas Transmission’s North American operations following which from April 1, 2003 to June 30, 2005 he became a non-executive Vice Chair of both Westcoast Energy Inc. and Union Gas Limited. Prior to his move to British Columbia to join Westcoast Energy, Mr. Unruh practiced business law in Winnipeg, Manitoba most recently as a partner of Aikins, MacAulay & Thorvaldson, Barristers and Solicitors.
Mr. Unruh was born and raised Manitoba. He attained his B.A. in 1966 and his LLB in 1970 from the University of Manitoba. In 1979, Mr. Unruh was awarded an honorary Certified General Accountant degree.
Mr. Unruh is also a director of Catalyst Paper Corporation, Corriente Resources Inc., Ontario Power Generation Inc., Pacific Northern Gas Ltd., The Wawanesa Mutual Insurance Company, The Wawanesa Life Insurance Company and The Wawanesa General Insurance Company and is a member of the Manitoba Bar Association and the Canadian Bar Association. |
